Shoko Ryu

Shoko Ryu grew up in the natural beauty of rural Japan. As a child, she often went up into the nearby mountains to hear the sounds of birds, feel the air, and smell the beautiful nature surrounding her. Since when she was little, Shoko loved to express her thoughts and imagination through music, drawing, and painting. Japanese people don’t always express themselves openly, but Shoko was always driven to express her feelings, her imagination, and sense of self. When she was 14 years old, Shoko did a home stay in Australia, and was inspired by the beautiful architecture and local pop culture. After graduate high school, she started to travel all over the world to see the world and to broaden her horizons. And her passion for art increased. She had not yet seriously studied art, but was drawing and painting for the sheer joy of it. She taught herself graphic design, and became proficient in software like Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign etc. At the same time, she kept drawing just for her own pleasure. She traveled to India where she studied yoga, and found herself inspired by its spiritual concepts of the third eye, and the flower of life, as well as the local color, patterns, and art she discovered there. Shoko’s work started to get noticed. People told her that her art inspired them to feel happy and joyful. For Shoko, it was the greatest feeling in the world to know that her art was making people happy. Her goal now is to keep drawing, so she can send messages of peace, happiness and joy into the world through her art.
