Lucienne Rickard Lucienne Rickard hails from Tasmania, Australia's most southern out-post and last point of contact for Antartic expeditions. The island's dark history of brutal convict settlements, bizzare wildlife and isolated position at the bottom of the earth inform Rickard's work.
Her images are heavy in romance and obsessive detail and draw on an ecclectic array of influences such as early maritine and botanical illustration, religious iconography and 60s pop music. She seeks to avoid sophistication, favouring instead a child-like fixation and wonder with the world.
